What is Melanotan I?
Melanotan I (afamelanotide) is a linear analogue of alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone with selectivity for the MC1 receptor.
What it's studied for
Where melanotan II is the broad melanocortin tool, melanotan I is the MC1R-selective one — used in melanogenesis and photoprotection research, and as the selective comparator in receptor-binding assays.
